Former Pakistani television actress Arij Fatyma has revealed her recovery from a rare and aggressive form of cancer, speaking for the first time about her intense four-month battle with the disease.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, the Hassad star disclosed that she was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma — a fast-spreading cancer that develops from uterine tissue and often emerges after a molar pregnancy, where abnormal tissue grows instead of a normal pregnancy.
“My life was going smoothly. I never took things too seriously and assumed I would live a long life. At times, I even skipped prayers,” she shared. “Then, in just a few hours, everything changed. I was fighting for my life, unsure if I would survive.”
Arij revealed that she underwent major surgery during treatment but chose to keep her illness private at the time, fearing public judgment. “People are quick to assume the worst and question your character,” she said.
She explained how the diagnosis took a deep emotional toll on her family, who stood by her throughout. Urging her followers to look beyond appearances on social media, she emphasized the importance of health. “If you feel something is wrong, don’t ignore it or rely on home remedies. Get yourself checked,” she advised.
Although now cancer-free, Arij will continue regular follow-up tests for years to ensure the illness does not return. “The possibility of recurrence keeps me humble, reminds me of mortality, and inspires me to live with more purpose,” she said, asking fans to remember her in their prayers.
Arij Fatyma left the entertainment industry in 2019, two years after marrying Dr. Uzair Ali. She currently lives in Ohio, USA, with her husband and their two sons.
